17 One Designs
April 27 2008 - The Melges 24 fleet mixes in with the J30s during today's action at the 2008 Sperry Topsider Annapolis NOOD, hosted by Sailing World and Annapolis Yacht Club.  Today's weather was cold and gray, but there was no lack of breeze for all 17 One Design fleets racing on the Chesapeake.

See more 2008 Annapolis NOOD photos here.
Easterly
April 26 2008 - There's nothing like an Easterly on Long Island Sound, and the AYC Spring Series sailors were bundled up for cold, windy conditions during the first regatta of the season.  Spring Series continues next weekend as well.

The American Yacht Club Spring Series Photos are a must see.
Layline
Charleston Race Week Photos 2008
April 20 2008 - Melges 24 Firewater on the layline with more boats and the Charleston skyline behind them during Charleston Race Week's 2008 action on the inside course.  Two other courses were set outside Charleston Harbor and everybody enjoyed sunshine, periods of high wind, and Southern hospitality.

Flying Scots Flying

March 25 2008 - The Flying Scots saw some heavy breeze for their Midwinters on Tampa Bay.  The 15-20 knots from the Southwest brought in big seas from the Gulf of Mexico and these sailors were flying downwind and getting soaked upwind.  Not quite lake sailing. The photos are exciting.

3-2-1...

March 15 2008 - This Lightning looks like it's ready for lift-off on Tampa Bay today during the 61st Annual St. Petersburg Lightning Championships, the final stop on the Lightning Southern Circuit.  The sailors were surfing downwind and plowing into the chop upwind today, with a stiff breeze and a choppy Bay to make things even more interesting for the 69-boat fleet with one start.  Check out the photos.

Grand Day at Grand Prix
Numbers at Miami Grand Prix 2008
March 8 2008 - Conditions couldn't have been better today as a cold front brought some clear air and fresh offshore breeze to the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Miami Beach and Key Biscayne.  In fact, this year's Acura Miami Grand Prix had some of the best conditions sailors and photographers can hope for.  Be sure to take a look at the photos.

Roll Tack

March 3 2008 - This Thistle team shows us how it's done during a light wind day on Tampa Bay in the midst of Thistle Midwinters East.  The Thistles enjoyed light breeze, opting not to go out in 15-20 early in the week, but they had a gear buster on the last day of the regatta.  More regatta photos here.

Laser Tag

February 22, 2008 - The course off of Clearwater was teaming with Lasers today and the mark roundings were quite crowded.  Nothing like 15 knots of breeze and a lot of boats.  The regatta hosted Laser S, Radial and 4.7s and most of the competitors were kids. More regatta photos in the Regatta Gallery.

Team 7

February 14 2008 - Team 7 and their coach on their home court today at Yngling Worlds.  Miami is a great place for regattas, even though the wind was on the lighter side today.  Team 7 will go on to China to represent the USA in the Olympics, as will many other Yngling Teams here today from various parts of the world.  See our photos at Yngling.org and PhotoBoat Regatta Gallery.

Does it get any better?...

February 10 2008 - A high performance dinghy regatta with 15-20 knots of breeze and clear skies on Tampa Bay; an event held at a huge county park that receives America's Best Beach award regularly.  The only problem at 505 and A Cat Midwinters 2008: it was too windy for the A Cats on this perfect day.  But who cares if you can fly a hull in 7 knots?  Click here to see more photos and click here to read more about the event in our Blog

Far from One Design

Jan 27 2008 - A modified McGregor 65 crosses the starting line between two schooners during the Schooner Wharf Bar Wrecker's Race to Sand Key.  The fleet is always a mix of modern racing yachts, such as J24s from J World and race boats left over from Key West Race Week, as well as the schooners that call Key West Bight their home.  More regatta photos here.

Key West 08: Out with a Bang
Key West 08 Friday
Jan 25 2008 - Sun and wind make all the difference, for photographers and racers alike.  Conditions off of Key West were perfect today, and the TP 52 Mayhem, pictured here, was loving it just like everybody else.  Today will be a great way to remember 2008's Key West Race Week as we look forward to Key West Race Week 2009.  More regatta photos here.

Into the Sunset: Key West Thursday Racing

Jan 24 2008 - With no racing on Wednesday due to lack of breeze, and a similar situation on Thursday morning, race committee called for a 12 noon harbor start and the wait was worth it.  10 knots rolled in around 2 pm and allowed the fleet to get two much-needed races in.  In this shot, the Temptress crew sets their chute on the Div 4 course.  More regatta photos here.

Key West Tuesday Racing

Jan 22 2008 - Finally some racing! Even though the sky was a little grey we got some cool photos of the super competitive Melges 24 class, J105 and more. Hopefully the weather will behave for the rest  of the week. We're looking forward to heavy wind on Friday. More regatta photos here.

Key West Monday No Racing

Jan 21 2008 - No Racing today. The windy conditions were breaking equipment left and right. Only a few boats decided to keep both sails up on their way back to the harbor after learning of the abandonment. More regatta photos here.

Key West Practice Day 024 31.76 N 081 50.03 W

Jan 20 2008 - With the coming of a cold front, the weather in the Keys changed from a sunny Florida dream to a blustery, rainy reality. The boats out practicing today were pushing their limits in gusts up to 29 knots just off of Key West. We caught some shots of a broaching Melges and had to pull an MOB out of the water...that is Allen's second MOB recovery in the last six months.   More photos here.

One Mile Down, 159 to go...

Jan 16 2008 - Samba Pa Ti on their way to Key West just after the start of the Ft Lauderdale to Key West Race. They ended up winning overall. The conditions were amazing.   More photos here.

Looking Good on the Bay

Jan 12 2008 - The breeze was pretty light for the St. Petersburg Yacht Club Multiclass Regatta, but these high performance boats still looked good.  Nothing like being able to get out on the trap when there aren't even whitecaps.  More photos in the Regatta Gallery.

PhotoBoat Event Coverage:

During regattas we do not simply take a ride on a chase boat or committee boat and shoot photos with a long lens. We bring our own 12' inflatable ribs and photograph every boat from multiple angles, getting the most dramatic close up shots possible.

Our boats are small enough that they do not disturb even the smallest of sailboats. We have customized them in such a way that it is easy for us to zoom around the race course by ourselves, driving and photographing at the same time. We still photograph in large ocean waves. We're also fun to watch.

Our Slide Shows of the day's most dramatic photos provide events and regattas with valuable entertainment during gatherings. We have our own projector and other equipment.

From brochure shots to group outings to family action portraits (great for Christmas cards!), we shoot the photos you want from all angles by photographing both from the water and on board the boat.  Please send an email to info@PhotoBoat.com for information and pricing.

We come aboard and get exciting close up and wide angle shots of your boat, skipper and crew during the race or just cruising. Please let us know if you are interested, before the event.
